BC Racing coilover kit for the Honda Civic Si with end links and spanners

Honda Civic Coilovers by Generation: EK to FL5

We list Honda Civic coilovers for every generation from the EK through the FL5 Type R. The catch: a kit for one generation, body style or Si year will not bolt onto the next.

The Civic has a deep coilover list on our site. That is good news and a trap. Two Civics from the same year can need different kits. A 2014 Si and a 2014 sedan do. So does an EK with fork-style rear mounts and an older car with an eye-style rear. Below is what we list by generation and the Si and Type R splits that catch people out. Then we cover what goes into the cost of the project.

Every fitment here comes from the title of our own product listing. Confirm your car on the product page, or call 1-800-460-9106 with your VIN before you order.

Honda Civic Coilovers by Generation

Here is the short map. Each generation gets its own notes below.

EK, 1996 to 2000

BC Racing, KW, TEIN, Fortune Auto, Feal and Ksport all list it. BC Racing and KW both name rear fork mounts in their titles.

7th generation, 2001 to 2005

BC Racing, KW, TEIN and Ksport list the base car. The EP3 Si has its own TEIN, Feal and Ksport listings.

8th generation, 2006 to 2011

BC Racing lists one FWD kit that includes the Si. KW, TEIN, Fortune Auto, Feal and Ksport list it too.

9th generation, 2012 to 2015

The 2014 to 2015 Si takes its own kit from BC Racing, Fortune Auto, Feal, TEIN and Ksport.

10th generation, 2016 to 2021

Sedan and coupe, the 1.5T hatchback, the Si and the FK8 Type R are separate kits.

11th generation, 2022 to 2025

BC Racing lists the sedan, coupe and hatchback, the Si and the Type R. TEIN, KW and Öhlins list the FL5 Type R.

EK and 7th Generation: Read the Mount Notes

The EK is still the Civic people build for fun. The BC Racing 1996 to 2000 Civic kit is listed as rear fork. KW's EK listing names coupe, hatchback and sedan with rear lower fork mounts. TEIN lists four kits for the EK, including the Si, from Street Basis Z up to Mono Sport. The Fortune Auto EK listing, Feal and Ksport round it out.

The 7th generation has one detail that trips people up. KW splits 2001 to 2005 Civics by the front strut lower mounting bolt: 14 mm or 16 mm. Both KW listings exclude the Hybrid. Check your bolt size before you order.

BC Racing lists a 2001 to 2005 kit that covers the Civic FWD and the Accord EL. It also lists an Extreme Low kit naming the base car, Si and Type R. The EP3 Si has its own listings from TEIN, Feal and Ksport.

8th and 9th Generation: The Si Splits

The 8th generation is simple. The BC Racing 2006 to 2011 FWD listing includes the Si. TEIN's listings name the Si too. KW's listing names FA5, FG2 and FD2, US models only. Fortune Auto lists the FA and FG with a separate style rear.

The 9th generation is where people order the wrong kit. The BC Racing 2012 to 2015 Civic listing says it does not fit the 2014 to 2015 Si. That Si gets its own BC Racing kit. Fortune Auto and Ksport split it the same way, and Feal lists the 2014 to 2015 Si on its own. TEIN's 2012 to 2015 listings say the Si needs a conversion kit. TEIN also lists separate kits for the 2012 to 2013 and 2014 to 2015 Si.

If you own a 2014 or 2015 Si, say so when you call. It spares you a return.

10th and 11th Generation, Si and Type R Notes

The 10th generation splits four ways. Body style, engine and trim all matter.

Sedan and coupe. BC Racing lists 2016 to 2023 sedan and coupe, non-Si, and excludes the 2017 to 2021 hatchback. KW lists the FC sedan, excluding the Si. Bilstein lists a B14 PSS kit for the 2017 to 2021 Civic, including Sport and Sport Touring.

1.5T hatchback. BC Racing lists the 2017 to 2021 hatchback 1.5T FWD, with Swift Rear Only. TEIN lists the FK7 hatchback.

Si. BC Racing lists the 2017 to 2020 Si FWD. Fortune Auto's 10th generation Si listing includes front end links. Ksport's Si listing says it has no bypass module for active damping models.

FK8 Type R. The BC Racing 2017 to 2021 Type R kit is listed. Fortune Auto lists the FK8 for 2017 to 2022. TEIN lists its RX1 for the FK8, and Ksport lists it too.

For the 11th generation, BC Racing lists the 2022 to 2025 sedan, coupe and hatchback, plus the 2022 to 2025 Si. BC Racing's 2016 to 2023 sedan and coupe listing overlaps 2022 and 2023. Call us with your VIN to confirm which one fits. A separate 2022 to 2023 hatchback listing names North America production with a 50.6 mm strut, excluding the Si. Strut size matters here, so confirm it.

The FL5 Type R has the deepest top-end list. BC Racing has two 2023 to 2025 Type R listings; confirm which one with us. TEIN lists its RX1 for the FL5. KW's FK8 listing says it also fits the 2023 to 2024 FL5. The Öhlins Road & Track Type R listing is titled 2017 to 2021 FL5/FK8. Confirm your car by VIN with us before you order.

What a Civic Coilover Project Costs in Total

The kit is the biggest line, but it is not the only one. Plan for all of it before you order, and the build stays on schedule. Our guide to coilover total cost of ownership runs the long-term numbers.

The coilover kit. Price follows engineering, adjustability and build method. Check the product page for current pricing on your fitment.

Installation. Doing it yourself costs time and tools: jack stands, a torque wrench, spring tools if needed and a free afternoon. A shop costs labor. Our guide on how to install coilovers shows the job so you can decide.

Alignment. Not optional. Any ride height change alters camber and toe. Plan an alignment after the car settles.

Extras. Some cars need end links or camber correction at lower heights. Some Fortune Auto listings include front end links, which helps. Custom spring rates on BC Racing carry a custom build fee, which we pass on without markup.

Upkeep. Seals and oil are wear items on any damper. Fortune Auto publishes its own rebuild schedule. Street use only is every 60,000 miles. Mixed street and track use is every 15,000 to 30,000 miles.

Setting Up Your Civic After the Install

Most Civics are daily drivers that see the odd autocross or track day. Set it up for the driving you do most, which is on the street.

Start with ride height. There is no single safe drop for every Civic. It depends on your wheels, tires and remaining bump travel. On full-length kits like BC Racing and Fortune Auto, height is set at the lower mount. The spring perch sets preload. Lock each locking collar once you are done, and recheck after a few hundred miles.

Next, damping. Start from the kit's manual setting, then adjust in small steps. Click counting differs by brand, so read your manual. Spring rate is the bigger lever for ride quality. If you mostly commute, tell us and we will check the kit's default rate suits it.

A word on unsprung weight. A coilover kit does not automatically cut it. The wheel, tire, brakes and hub make up most of the unsprung weight on a Civic. Lighter wheels do more there than any damper swap.

Matching a Brand to Your Civic Build

We are an authorized dealer for every brand here. Each one serves a different Civic owner.

BC Racing covers every generation in this guide with nitrogen-charged monotube dampers. The BR Series is the entry kit in the BC Racing ladder, with 30-click simultaneous compression and rebound. Swift Springs SPEC-R springs are an upgrade option on most BC Racing fitments.

Fortune Auto hand-builds in Virginia, with deep Honda specialization. The 500 Series is a single-adjustable monotube, custom valved for your car.

KW brings German engineering and TÜV certification on most kits. KW V1 to KW V3 use twin-tube dampers in stainless steel bodies.

TEIN brings Japanese engineering, with 16-click damping on Street Advance Z and Flex Z. Öhlins brings TTX twin-tube technology and DFV on Road & Track. Bilstein invented the monotube damper, and the B14 PSS has fixed damping with adjustable height.

Feal and Ksport cover plenty of Civic years too. Pick Honda Civic coilovers for how you drive, then confirm the exact listing for your car.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will EK coilovers fit my older Civic?

Not by default. BC Racing lists 1988 to 1991 and 1992 to 1995 Civics as separate kits, split by rear eye or rear fork mounts. Match your year and your rear mount type to the listing title.

Do 2012 to 2015 Civic coilovers fit the 2014 Si?

Usually not. The BC Racing 2012 to 2015 listing says it does not fit the 2014 to 2015 Si, and BC Racing lists a separate Si kit. Fortune Auto and Ksport split it too. TEIN says the Si needs a conversion kit on its 2012 to 2015 listings.

Which coilovers fit the FL5 Civic Type R?

BC Racing has two 2023 to 2025 Type R listings; confirm which one with us. TEIN lists its RX1 for the FL5. KW's FK8 listing says it also fits the 2023 to 2024 FL5. The Öhlins Road & Track listing is titled 2017 to 2021 FL5/FK8, so confirm by VIN with us.

Do 10th generation sedan coilovers fit the hatchback?

No. BC Racing's sedan and coupe listing excludes the 2017 to 2021 hatchback. The 1.5T hatchback has its own BC Racing and TEIN listings. Body style matters on this generation.

How much do Honda Civic coilovers cost in total?

Add up the kit, installation, an alignment and any extras like end links or custom spring rates. Pricing changes, so check the product page for your fitment. Call us and we will walk through the full list for your car.

Do I need an alignment after lowering my Civic?

Yes. Any ride height change alters camber and toe. Set the height, let the car settle, then align it. Skip it and you will chew through tires.

What is the Extreme Low kit on BC Racing Civic listings?

It is a separate BC Racing listing for owners chasing a deeper drop. It appears for several Civic generations. Most daily drivers do not need it. Call us before you choose between it and the standard kit.

Questions About Your Civic?

From an EK hatch to an FL5 Type R, the right kit starts with the right listing. One wrong year or body style means a kit that will not bolt on.
