Infiniti G35 and G37, Nissan 350Z and 370Z Coilovers

This article was written by Coilovers.com Owner and Principal, Lou Tortola.

G35 coilovers come in more versions than most owners expect: coupe or sedan, RWD or AWD, separate-style or true coilover rear. Get those three right and the same logic covers the G37, 350Z and 370Z. We list kits for all four from BC Racing, KW, Fortune Auto, TEIN, Feal and Ksport, and Öhlins lists the 350Z.

These cars share a front-engine layout, rear drive on most versions and a strong aftermarket. People daily them, drift them and run them at track days. That is why the coilover kit list is long, and why it is easy to order the wrong one. This guide sorts the listings by car and explains the choices that matter for street, drift and track use.

Every fitment here comes from the title of our own product listing. Confirm your car on the product page, or call 1-800-460-9106 with your VIN before you order.

The Three Questions Before You Pick G35 Coilovers

Answer these and the list gets short fast.

Coupe, sedan or convertible? Many listings split by body. BC Racing lists the G35 coupe and sedan as separate kits. KW's G35 listing names the 2WD coupe only. The G37 Convertible has its own BC Racing and Ksport listings.

RWD or AWD? The G35x and G37x are AWD. They take their own kits. Order the listing that names your drivetrain.

Separate-style or true coilover rear? BC Racing and Fortune Auto list most of these cars both ways. More on this below, because it is the choice people ask about most.

Separate-Style Rear vs True Coilover Rear

BC Racing separate style rear coilover kit with black front coilovers, rear dampers and two loose rear springs

Look at the two kit photos in this section. In a separate-style kit, the rear spring and the rear damper are two parts. The spring sits on its own seat, away from the damper. In a true coilover rear kit, the rear spring wraps around the rear damper body, like the fronts.

BC Racing true rear coilover kit with black springs on all four dampers and two spanner wrenches

The two styles set up differently at the rear. That changes how you adjust rear ride height, which springs fit and how the install goes. We hear requests for both from street, drift and track owners. There is no single right answer for every build, so tell us how you use the car and we will talk it through.

Most Ksport listings for these cars name true rear coilovers. TEIN, KW, Feal and Öhlins do not split their listings by rear style, so check the product page for the layout.

Infiniti G35 Coilovers: Coupe, Sedan and AWD

The G35 ran two chassis, and our listings name both: V35 and V36. Here is what we list.

2003 to 2007 G35 Coupe (V35)

BC Racing lists RWD kits with separate-style and true rear. So does Fortune Auto. The KW G35 Coupe 2WD listing covers it, and TEIN lists Street Basis Z, Flex Z and Mono Sport.

2003 to 2006 G35 Sedan (V35)

The BC Racing G35 sedan true rear kit is RWD. BC Racing lists a separate-style version too, as does Fortune Auto. TEIN lists three kits for the V35 sedan.

2007 to 2008 G35 Sedan (V36)

BC Racing and Fortune Auto list RWD kits in both rear styles. TEIN lists three kits. Ksport's V36 sedan listing excludes AWD.

AWD G35 and G35x

BC Racing lists a 2004 to 2006 G35 AWD kit and a 2007 to 2008 G35x sedan AWD kit. Feal lists the 2005 to 2007 G35x AWD. Ksport lists the 2003 to 2008 G35X sedan AWD.

Feal and Ksport list the V35 G35 too. Read each title for the years and body styles it names.

G37 and the V36 Q40 and Q60

The G37 coupe, sedan and convertible all have listings. BC Racing lists the 2008 to 2013 coupe RWD and the 2009 to 2013 sedan RWD, each in both rear styles. It also lists the 2009 to 2013 G37 Convertible RWD and the 2009 to 2013 G37x sedan AWD. BC Racing also lists a 2008 to 2013 AWD V36 coupe kit, titled G35x Coupe AWD. That title is all we state, so AWD coupe owners should call us with the VIN to confirm it.

KW lists the G37 coupe 2WD, and a second KW listing names the G37 and Q60 2WD coupe for 2008 to 2015. TEIN lists the G37 coupe and the 2009 to 2015 sedan. Fortune Auto lists the G37 in both rear styles. Ksport splits RWD, AWD and convertible. Feal lists the G37 and the G37x AWD.

Our listings carry the V36 code on the 2014 to 2015 Q40 and Q60 too. BC Racing lists the Q60 coupe RWD in both rear styles, the Q60 coupe AWD and the Q60 convertible RWD. If your car wears a Q badge, give us the VIN.

Nissan 350Z, 370Z and Z (RZ34) Coilovers

The Z cars have the deepest track and drift following of the group, and the listings show it.

350Z (Z33). BC Racing lists 2003 to 2008 RWD kits in both rear styles. Fortune Auto lists both styles too. KW lists the 2003 to 2009 coupe and convertible. TEIN's listings include the Roadster. Feal and Ksport list the Z33. The Öhlins Road & Track 350Z listing covers 2002 to 2008. Bilstein lists a B12 Pro-Kit, which pairs dampers with lowering springs rather than a coilover setup.

370Z (Z34). The BC Racing 370Z true rear kit covers 2009 to 2021. BC Racing also lists a separate-style kit naming the Fairlady Z and 370Z. Fortune Auto lists both styles. KW lists the coupe. TEIN's listings include the Nismo. Ksport's listing excludes the Roadster.

Z (RZ34). BC Racing lists a 2023 to 2025 Nissan Z RWD true rear kit. The title does not split Sport, Performance or NISMO, so confirm your car on the product page or call us. Swift Springs SPEC-R springs are an upgrade option on most BC Racing fitments. Swift also lists Sport Spec-R springs for the 2023 to 2024 Z, a spring set rather than a coilover kit.

Street, Drift and Track Setups

The same chassis does three different jobs. Your setup should match the one you do most.

Street

Keep the drop modest and the spring rate sensible. There is no single safe drop for every car. It depends on wheels, tires and remaining bump travel. Start from the kit's manual damping setting and soften it if the ride feels busy. Spring rate does more for comfort than damping clicks.

Drift

Drift builds want a predictable rear and easy adjustment between events. Our guide on drift coilovers covers what to look for. Planning a full build? Read how to build a drift car before you buy parts in the wrong order.

Track

Track days reward damping you can adjust and a kit that handles heat. Set ride height, then corner weights, then alignment. Corner balancing aims for about 50 percent cross weight. It will not change the front to rear split; only moving mass does that. Our coilover setup guide covers each discipline in detail.

For all three

On full-length kits like BC Racing and Fortune Auto, height is set at the lower mount. The spring perch sets preload. Lock every locking collar and recheck after the first few hundred miles. Get an alignment after any height change, because camber and toe move with ride height.

A coilover kit does not automatically cut unsprung weight. The wheel, tire, brakes and hub make up most of it. Lighter wheels do more for unsprung weight than any damper swap.

Matching a Brand to Your G or Z Car

We are an authorized dealer for every brand here. Each serves a different owner.

BC Racing covers the G35, G37, 350Z and 370Z with nitrogen-charged monotube dampers, in both rear styles on most. The BR Series runs 30-click simultaneous compression and rebound. Swift Springs SPEC-R springs are an upgrade option on most BC Racing fitments.

Fortune Auto hand-builds in Virginia and lists both rear styles. The 500 Series is a single-adjustable monotube, custom valved for your car.

KW brings German engineering and TÜV certification on most kits. KW V3 has independently adjustable compression and rebound.

TEIN brings Japanese engineering. Mono Sport is a monotube design, and Flex Z gives you 16-click damping. Öhlins brings TTX twin-tube technology and DFV on Road & Track. Feal hand-builds in Murrieta, California.

Whatever brand you choose, plan for upkeep. Seals and oil are wear items on any damper, and drift and track use wear them faster. Ask about rebuild options when you buy, not when a damper starts leaking.

This is performance suspension for a platform people keep for years. Pick the kit for how you drive now, and the one you plan to drive next season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do G35 coupe and sedan coilovers interchange?

Do not assume so. BC Racing, Fortune Auto and TEIN list the G35 coupe and sedan as separate kits. KW's G35 listing names the 2WD coupe only. Order the listing that names your body style.

Are there coilovers for the AWD G35x and G37x?

Yes. BC Racing lists the 2004 to 2006 G35 AWD, the 2007 to 2008 G35x sedan and the 2009 to 2013 G37x sedan. It also lists a 2008 to 2013 V36 coupe kit titled G35x Coupe AWD; call us with your VIN to confirm it. Feal and Ksport list AWD kits too. Order the kit that names your drivetrain.

What is a true rear coilover on a 350Z or G35?

It puts the rear spring around the rear damper, like the fronts. A separate-style kit keeps the rear spring and damper as two parts. BC Racing and Fortune Auto list both styles for most of these cars.

Do 350Z coilovers fit the G35?

Order by your own car. Our listings are written per model, body and drivetrain. One BC Racing Extreme Low listing names both the 350Z and G35, but most do not. Match the title to your car.

Which 370Z coilovers fit the Nismo?

TEIN's 370Z listings name the Nismo. For other brands, call us with your VIN before you order. We will check the listing against your car.

Are there coilovers for the new Nissan Z (RZ34)?

Yes. BC Racing lists a true rear kit for the 2023 to 2025 Nissan Z RWD. Its title does not name Sport, Performance or NISMO trims, so confirm your car on the product page or call us with your VIN.

Are G35 coilovers good for drifting?

Yes, plenty of G35 and 350Z owners drift on coilovers. Pick a kit with easy height and damping adjustment and a spring rate to match your build. Tell us your plans and we will help you choose the rear style.

Do I need camber arms after lowering a G35 or 350Z?

It depends on how far you drop the car and what you want from the alignment. A mild drop on the street often aligns within spec. A big drop or a track alignment may need more adjustment. Call us with your target height and we will talk it through.
