BC Racing coilover kit for the Dodge Charger with front and rear units and spanners

Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Challenger Coilovers by Year and Drivetrain

We list Chrysler 300 coilovers from BC Racing, KW and Ksport for both the 2005 to 2010 cars and the 2011-on cars. RWD and AWD are separate listings. The Charger and Challenger get their own kits too, and each listing names its own years, trims and exclusions.

These are big, heavy cars, and most owners want two things. A lower stance that fills the wheel wells, and a ride that still works on the highway. The kit you pick depends on the year, the drivetrain and whether the car has factory electronic suspension. This guide sorts it out using the exact titles of our own listings, so you know what to look at before you call.

One rule before we start. Fitment below comes straight from our product titles. If a year, trim or drivetrain is not named, we do not assume it fits. Confirm on the product page, or call 1-800-460-9106 with your VIN.

The 300 splits cleanly at 2011. KW's 2005 to 2010 titles call those cars LX. Here is what each brand lists.

2005 to 2010 Chrysler 300

BC Racing, RWD. The 2005-2010 Chrysler 300C RWD BC Racing listing comes in the BR Series or DS Series. A separate listing covers the 300C AWD for the same years.

KW, RWD. KW lists the 300 C 2WD (LX) sedan and wagon, with V6 and V8 as separate listings. Both come as KW V1 or KW V2.

Ksport. Ksport lists the 300/300C RWD and the 300 AWD for 2005 to 2010.

2011 and Later Chrysler 300

BC Racing, RWD. Two listings cover 2011 to 2022. One names the 300/300S RWD plus the 2012 to 2014 SRT-8 RWD. The other is the 2011-2022 Chrysler 300C RWD BC Racing listing. Both list the BR, DS, ER and ZX Series. A third listing names the 2012 to 2014 300C SRT-8 in BR or DS, so ask us which one matches your car.

KW, RWD. The 2011-2023 Chrysler 300 C 2WD KW listing covers V6 and V8, all models, without electronic suspension. It comes as KW V1 or KW V2.

AWD. KW lists the 300 C 4WD (LX) sedan and wagon for 2005 to 2022, V6 or V8, in KW V2 only. BC Racing and Ksport do not list a 2011-on AWD 300 with us. If yours is AWD, call before you order.

Ksport, RWD. The 2011-2021 Chrysler 300/300C RWD Ksport listing covers the later RWD cars.

Two of the 2011-on BC Racing 300 listings say "Extreme by Default" in the title. Call us before you order so we can confirm how low that build sits and whether a standard-height version is available.

Dodge Charger Coilovers: RWD, AWD and the Scat Pack Exclusion

The Charger listings follow the same 2011 split, with a few exclusions you need to read.

2006 to 2010, RWD. BC Racing lists the Charger RWD and the Charger SRT-8 RWD as separate kits, each in BR or DS. KW lists the Charger RWD, V6 and V8, in KW V1 or KW V2. Ksport lists 2005 to 2010 Charger RWD, including SRT-8.

2006 to 2010, AWD. BC Racing has one listing for the 2007 to 2010 Charger AWD and 2005 to 2008 Magnum AWD. Ksport lists the 2006 to 2010 Charger AWD.

2011 to 2022, RWD. BC Racing lists the Charger RWD, excluding Scat Pack. A separate BC listing covers the 2012 to 2014 Charger SRT-8 RWD, also excluding Scat Pack. KW lists 2011 to 2023 Charger RWD, V6 and V8, all models without electronic suspension. Ksport lists 2011 to 2021 Charger RWD.

Two gaps stand out. None of our listings name a 2011-on AWD Charger. None name a Scat Pack either. If you own one, call us with the VIN.

Dodge Challenger Coilovers and the Electronic Suspension Bundle

2008 to 2010. BC Racing lists the Challenger RWD and the Challenger SRT-8 RWD, each in BR or DS. Ksport lists the 2008 to 2010 Challenger RWD, including SRT-8.

2011 to 2022, BC Racing. The BC Racing title names RWD LA platform cars only and excludes the Scat Pack and GT. It comes in the BR, DS, ER or ZX Series.

2011 to 2023, KW. KW lists Challenger RWD, V6 and V8, all models without electronic suspension, in KW V1 or KW V2.

SRT with electronic suspension. The 2012-2021 Challenger SRT KW listing is for SRT models with electronic suspension. It comes as a KW V1 or KW V2 bundle that includes an EDC kit.

Ksport. Ksport lists 2011 to 2021 Challenger RWD.

The BC Racing listing excludes the GT, and no listing here names an AWD Challenger. Call us if that is your car.

Own a Magnum?

The 2005 to 2008 Dodge Magnum has its own listings. BC Racing lists RWD, plus AWD shared with the Charger. KW lists 2WD and 4WD, V6 and V8. Ksport lists RWD. Bilstein lists a B12 Pro-Kit that includes the SRT-8.

Which Series Fits a Big Sedan

Every brand here builds performance suspension for a different driver. Here is how the series on these listings line up.

BC Racing. BC Racing uses nitrogen-charged monotube dampers in every series. The BR Series and DS Series have 30-click simultaneous compression and rebound. The DS adds stainless-steel shock bodies for corrosion resistance. The ER Series adds an external reservoir for heat under sustained track use. The ZX Series is three-way adjustable, with 30-click rebound, 20-click low-speed compression and 12-click high-speed compression. Most of these BC listings say "Swift Front Only", so Swift Springs SPEC-R upgrade springs are an option up front. BC Racing North America lists a two-year limited warranty on full kit orders, from the date of purchase, subject to its warranty terms. BC also notes that noise from track-oriented kits such as the DS, ER and ZX is not covered.

KW. KW V1 has preset damping, so you set ride height and drive. KW V2 adds rebound adjustment. Both use twin-tube dampers in stainless steel bodies. KW lists a limited lifetime warranty on KW V1, KW V2 and KW V3 for the original purchaser. The kit must come from an authorized North American dealer and be installed per KW's instructions.

Ksport. Ksport covers 1,000+ applications, which is why its coilover kit list reaches all three cars.

Bilstein. The B12 Pro-Kit for the 2006 to 2010 Charger V6/V8 is not a coilover. It is a shock and lowering spring kit. You get a set drop with no height adjustment.

Fortune Auto. We do not list a Fortune Auto kit for these cars. Fortune Auto hand-builds its kits in Virginia. If you want us to ask about one, call.

For a street sedan, damping you can reach and spring rate matter more than click counts. If the car sees mostly highway miles, the KW V1 or BC Racing BR Series keeps things simple. If you track it, the ER and ZX give you more to work with.

Ride Height Without Rubbing on Big Wheels

This is where most 300, Charger and Challenger builds go wrong. Large wheels and wide tires leave little room, and the car is heavy. There is no single safe drop for every car. It depends on your wheel size, offset and tire.

Big wheels also add unsprung weight. That is the mass the springs do not carry: the wheel, tire, hub, brakes and knuckle. A heavier wheel and tire make the damper work harder over bumps. A coilover kit does not change that mass by itself.

Go down in steps. Lower a little, settle the car, then check. A full-length kit like BC Racing lets you set ride height on coilovers at the lower mount without touching spring preload.

Check at full lock. Turn the wheel all the way both ways and look at the inner fender liner. Front rubbing often shows up only at lock.

Load the rear. These cars carry people and luggage. Check rear clearance with weight in the trunk and back seat.

Watch your offset. More negative offset or spacers push the tire out and increase scrub radius. Our guide to wheel and tire combinations covers the trade-offs.

Check the product page and the kit manual for how rear height adjusts on your kit before you start turning collars.

Setup After the Install

Chrysler 300 coilovers, like any kit, change geometry when you change height. Camber and toe move, so book an alignment after every change. On a heavy sedan with big tires, skipping it costs you tires fast.

Torque every fastener to the spec in the kit's manual. Snug every locking collar once height is set. Recheck them after the first few hundred miles. Start damping from the kit's manual setting and adjust from there.

New to all this? Our guide on what are coilovers covers the parts and how they work. If your kit has dust boots, keep them in place. A clean shaft protects the damper seal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Chrysler 300 coilovers fit the Charger?

Do not assume it. Each brand lists the 300, Charger and Challenger as separate products with their own years and exclusions. Order the listing that names your car, or call 1-800-460-9106 with your VIN.

Are there coilovers for an AWD Chrysler 300?

For 2005 to 2010, BC Racing and Ksport list AWD kits. KW lists the 300 C 4WD (LX) for 2005 to 2022 in KW V2. Nothing else on our site names a 2011-on AWD 300, so call to confirm yours.

Can I put coilovers on a Charger Scat Pack?

Our BC Racing Charger and Challenger listings exclude the Scat Pack, and none of our other listings name it. Call us with the VIN and we will check with the brands.

What about a Challenger SRT with electronic suspension?

KW lists a 2012 to 2021 Challenger RWD kit for SRT models with electronic suspension. It comes as a KW V1 or KW V2 bundle with an EDC kit. The standard KW Challenger listing is for cars without electronic suspension.

How low can I go on 20-inch wheels?

There is no single answer. It depends on wheel width, offset, tire size and fender shape. Drop in steps, check at full steering lock and with the rear loaded, then align the car.

Do I need an alignment after installing coilovers?

Yes. Any ride height change alters camber and toe. Align the car after the install and after any later height change.

Is the Bilstein kit for the Charger a coilover?

No. The B12 Pro-Kit is a shock and lowering spring kit. It gives a set drop with no ride height adjustment. Our listing covers the 2006 to 2010 Charger V6/V8.
